Land of Buzzards
copyright @2006 Brenda Terzian

There once was a land of delicacies
Is hard to imagine wish you could see
With growing ever so wild and so free
Huge red luscious pomegranate trees

Running springs, rivers, and waterfalls
Reaching to the skies mountains so tall
People who answered their Maker's call
It was a true paradise overall

A nation started many years ago
Thirty-five hundred years all know
Yet was small when it began though
But a lot of people when it did grow

Each other everybody loved and cared
There was pride and unity everywhere
From far away people joined them there
Joy and happiness did fill the air

The air smelled so sweet and so clean
The people were so smart and so keen
All were healthy, muscular, and lean
With magnificent culture to be seen

Thirty million living in one land
Together in harmony they did stand
Not much they lacked in life to demand
A special people they did understand

Land that stretched from coast to coast
Though wealthy the people did not boast
Comparing lands they had more than most
Before theirs was a land of ghosts

The innocents trusted a strong Empire
Words that were enticing from the liars
With unity lifting the spirit higher
A bright flame to become a burning fire

What was to soon happen no one did guess
Not professionals or one of the rest
Nor even the intellectual smartest
Not anyone did even give a jest

The leaders were a new ruling party
Young, energetic, too bold and hardy
No one figured them of a thing naughty
Words they spoke seeming so hearty

But something was brewing behind doors
Not what they appeared but so much more
With ferocious rage of a charging boar
Because of their religion as the Moors

Carefully planned plots not detected
Instead the deceivers were respected
Unsuspected ones did as directed
Believing the words of those elected

They were to be lambs in the lions' den
That was when the evil dragon came in
Spreading havoc and destruction within
Changing the course of all lives therein

They were to be slaughtered all the men
Then they raped and tortured the women
No one spared not even little children
Of the terrible attrocity within

The evil ones' words they did not keep
Instead they caused too many to weep
Making the paths of lives too steep
Bringing to many an eternal sleep

Though they weren't part of life making
They thought not twice for the taking
And cared less for the hearts breaking
The day sleeping evil started waking

To these malicious acts oh so gory
Few lived on to retell the story
Of humble beginnings and their glory
To their fate no one has said 'sorry'

Overhead buzzards waited as they flew
The mountains and skies witnessed too
All the misery the people went through
Not repented the dragon might get you!!!

Genocide No More

The morrow, the morrow, the morrow
But what comes tomorrow
Too much to be coped
Not true it is hoped

Could there be more madness
Would there be more sadness
Lest there be more gore
And death to hail more

Oh why, oh why, oh why
Hast so many to die
The reason not their fault
Their futures put on halt

It shouldn’t have been so
Innocents have such foes
Longed are moments of Grace
Let not lives be erased

Cry out, cry out, cry out
The ghosts they do shout
The wronged be avenged
Righteousness on hinge

Merciful concessions
For the just life lessons
Beyond ends of the crowd
Compassion be allowed

Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye
These words beg of thee
Trying hard not to preach
Let all hearts be reached

For when hatred rules
The results just so cruel
Neither out nor in
The adverse hath no friend

Can there, can there, can there
Ever come to world heirs
A future certainty
Even for you and for me

Alas, let it be true
Before life is through
Let not genocides repeat
Against evil defeat

Pray

Pray for the innocents who have unjustly died
Pray for the oppressed who have silently cried
Pray for the orphans who are all alone
Pray for the sinners that they be atoned

Pray for the martyrs who for their beliefs were killed
Pray for the hungry that they may be filled
Pray for the hopeless that they endure their next day
Pray for the lost that he may find his way

Pray for the ones without that they be given more
Pray for the noble veterans injured by the war
Pray for the world that there be unity of man
Pray for the heroes who give all that they can

Pray for the love of God that it replaces all hate
Pray for the leaders who have a say in people’s fate
Pray for the chosen who answered their Maker’s call
Pray for the human kind each one and all

Longing for Your Love
Copyright © 2006 Brenda Terzian

If I were sparked by your affection
Life would be the peak of perfection
I’d never ever ask for more
Cause my heart would be at galore

I’m waiting for you to wake and see
Just how happy we could be
Here I sit and here I’ll wait
For our hearts to join by fate

Not if but when it does I trust
There’ll be no other two like us
As lovers are meant to be
Special ones in history

Like Romeo and Juliet together
We will be united forever
So it’s just a matter of time
One day we too will be a rhyme

There’ll be such abundant sunshine
The mergence of your heart with mine
Our beings to ignite in flames
Burst with joy and never the same

No limits the heights you carry me
So uplifting and incredibly
All moments before we were cheated
Not letting go they’ll be defeated

It’s a time that’s yet to come
A dream we’ll both welcome
But one day it will be real
Make no mistake our love will reel
