Unwilling To Let Go
Can you feel the silence
Of vibrations gone unheard
From the beating of my heart
Though it never spoke a word

Yet you know how I feel
Can you read my open mind?
tHis light penetrates closed eyes
Even if your heart is blind

The truth will set you free
Through beliefs we cannot know
tHis light, living eyes can't see
Life: unwilling to let go

The One On My Shoulder - Never Succumb
He whispers in my ear of all he'll give to me
How Hell is not so bad, how he will set me free
He tells me his truth has the golden touch
He gives me a choice, says it won't cost too much
Just my soul, he tells "I have none, never needed one
Death is better than life, an eternity of fun"

I will not listen to him or his tempting lies
I pray for the haunting day that he up and dies
Although he wants to take me down with him
Where all lost souls cry, my fate is not so grim
For he has no soul to be cleansed of its sins
While mine has hope of being washed when the end begins

No End To The Flesh
I want to be mortal forever
To know my life is mine and mine alone
No end to the flesh
Life over death
No soul to set free
Or apples to tempt me
I do not want to rise into Heaven
Or fall to some torturous place
What I want is to feel
To taste
To smell
And most of all
I want to love
Never ending love
For all I have ever known
Is love never begun
When finally it comes
I don't want to let go
I want to hold on
I want to be mortal forever

Invisible Light
Sunlight exposes the surface to eyes
Shows colors that lead me to believe in lies
Distracting my thoughts with superficial beauty
Misleading my heart from the Light I cannot see

Holy thoughts I cannot capture within
Escape on wings that flutter off in dark sin
Hide in the shadows of my invisible heart
When she visits me once more to tear it apart

Bats circle within my hallowed belfry
While echos of long dead love ever haunt me
I am raising the sun to cast my demons out
Freeing my mind of all it's never been without

I'm told the Son has risen to free me
Of what burns my soul while trapped in this body
Daylight shines as the sun rises warming my flesh
Masking the star guiding my way to the creche

Tell me the one truth, show me the right way
I want to release all doubts without delay
I want to not want, to be free of desire
To bask in the Son Light not bathe in the fire

Moon & River
A bright and steamy afternoon
Beside the shady path, I sat to rest my weary legs
As I looked up a lonely glimmer caught my eye
And I thought it odd, mixed in the blue, the moon seemed out of place

Next to the path, the flowing river
Filled the air with the peaceful rush of quiet water
Between the ripples, the pulsating shimmer rolled
While the orb of night tumbled over waves then faded out of sight

Rising from the green of ground
Fading with the Sun, behind my steps, the splashing drowned
By cars, where horses once strode over cobble stones
Along the way are reminder signs of history and bone

These ancient streets exclaim their story
Between the walls of homes much older than old glory
Clouds fill the empty sky, daylight casts a final sliver
Walking home through the Stockade streets, I saw the Moon and River

Life Is An Ocean - 4 Superman
C'mon
C'mon
Go for it
Able to but never do

I can
I can
Take a chance
I am not a super fool

Unlike
Unlike
My hero
I live within a prison

My mind
My mind
So shallow
My mind, a kiddie pool

This life
What life?
Avoid sharks
Life is an ocean, swim

Where Is My Muse?
A restless night
A hot Summer sweat
I dreamed you came to my door
I would not let you in
You rang and banged
Like the wolf of Goldilocks
Huffing and puffing
You blew my house in
And I thought
My what big lungs you have
All the better to read you poems with my dear
Was your sly reply
And so I lay back in my bed
You read and read and read and read
Poetry of love and some of death
You read some poems I could not hear
Or was it the silence of my fear?
My voice was silent to make you stay
And no more poems flowed from my pen
For stopping you might mean the end
Then once again I would be alone
Until your soothing voice came to my phone
To caress my ear and touch my heart
My passion for you feels like a sin
A locket sealed to lock it in
Until the clock strikes there is no ring
Where is my phone, where is my poem
Where is my muse, she hides alone
Fly back to me, spread your wings

Like Father, Like Son
Like Father, Like Son

He knew, he knew all along
The coming war wouldn't take too long
He knew he had to act quickly to win
But even more quickly for war to begin

To begin the operation and finally crush Iraq
Or he would lose his chance for the mass attack
He set the course for all the lies he would put forth
To target someone to fill the empty shoes of Ollie North

Like father, like son, he needed someone he could blame
But false intelligence only leads to a greater family shame
Now this mighty nation must close the bleeding breach
Of trust, and wisely utilize the people's power to impeach

For the only mass destruction was to Iraqi lives and land
And now he's sure their weapons plan must be buried in the sand
His plan is clear, to create new laws for his absolute power
His corruption built with the bones unfound from either tower

All this time we wondered where all the innocent victims went
Now they've been found being used by King George, the pResident
Claiming to bring justice to US by freeing terrors firm controls
To kill all those he hates, unjustly used our soldiers and their souls

This poem is available in my book, Seeds And Weeds.

Seeds And Weeds is a philosophically expressive compilation of poetry and prose, offering progressive views on politics, peace, nature, fate, faith, family, friendship, introspection, and poetry itself.

"Seeds and Weeds" is more than simply a collection of verse with splashes of imagery. This book challenges the mind and heart to find a better way through observations and feelings on the rise and fall of character, creatively expressed in rhyme and reason.

Do you know of someone who has allowed pride to grow into a colossal weed and strangle those who will not bow down before his regime? Will we silently witness the simultaneous strangulation of Humanity and Mother Nature at the hands of the foulest fertilizer in the world?

It's time to weed the garden!

Peace

1000 Keys
The globe is warming day by day
And a burning Bush will lead the way
Then from behind the Bush a chilling breeze
Comes to blow us all away
When Mother Nature's tears can freeze
He rapes her till her spirit leaves
Blazing with pride for all he strips away
Like the bark of fallen trees
A single sound of a thousand keys
Unshackling those hung there by his deeds
Soldiers falling to their knees
A mother found her child today
She wished the dead could pray
One hundred thousand silent pleas
Echo unheard by God through Heaven's haze
Still Allah heard each sing his name in praise
No missing souls, no WMD's

Pay For The War
Meanwhile al-Qaeda hides Osama in the Afghan hills
Spun and fled, they live to produce terror another day
In his oval orifice George seeks funds to ease the battle bills
Against his father’s enemy, he swears that he will pay
He’ll win the war at any cost, no matter who he kills

1888 U.S. soldiers dead along with the children of Iraq
Perhaps a distraction of destruction by nature’s forces would prevail
As Katrina stormed the Gulf he opportunely turned his back
He might drown out one mother’s tears with Mother Nature’s gale
Or did he just not care because his latest victims would be black?

Some feared the worst would be costly oil spills
Till the Chevy sunk the levee and the price rose anyway
Filling with water that need not have crossed those hills
Drowning the barren streets but the dead float anyway
A sunken New Orleans starves while his hungry war chest fills

Repeating the call though we have heard it all before
Impeach Gee-Dubbaya before he passes on the blame
Evict his whole Goddamn regime and lock the White House door
For there’s no amount of money that can buy away his shame
And one way or another we will pay for the war
